“We knew her when”

First act of the year of the Green Marble: take Janet up on her offer to come live in NYC with her/on her couch. Done.

And here’s how Janet ended up on the Great White Way:

Janet was cast in Bring It On: The Musical a few days before we went to the In the Heights tour at the Pantages in LA. We waited at the Stage Door so Janet coul say hello to the star and creator of the show, Lin (yellow glasses), who was also writing lyrics and music for Bring It On. I took this picture knowing that August 2012 would happy someday soon.

Bring It On: The Musical opened on Broadway. This is Janet exiting the Stage Door. Janet and Lin are now friends in real life know. Janet is currently rehearsing her 2nd Broadway show. And I get to tell everyone “we knew her when.”

What is that face I am making?!?! Also, love you Annie ;)

What does “Syrup of Wahoo” mean?

Somebody asked me this question and I figured it deserved a good answer!

It’s a quote from a Tom Robbins novel. He’s one of my favorite authors. “Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates” is one of my go-to book-friends.

It’s just used in passing in the book, but I really love it. I take it to be the juice. The good stuff. The fun, the thrill, the leap… the things that nourish and enliven and poison and polish and punctuate and pearl-ize. That which seeps out of the tree of life because it just can’t stand to be contained and drips down to drink in the air and shines with the stickiness of all the best things in life. The gasp. The sting. The sweetness. The anti-gravity. The anti-entropy. Cinnamon-bun blood. Sweaty Dawn Pie. Breathless, boneless, liquid and light. It’s a good time girl’s drink of choice.

Bring me that, horizon. WAHOOOOOOOOOO!
